Individual Therapy Focused on Insight, Growth, and Lasting Change

Individual therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect more deeply, and better understand the patterns, emotions, and experiences shaping your life. Many people begin therapy because something no longer feels sustainable—whether it’s anxiety, stress, relationship struggles, grief, burnout, or a growing sense of disconnection from themselves or others.

I provide individual therapy for adults who want more than temporary coping strategies. Together, we work toward developing insight, increasing emotional awareness, and creating meaningful change that feels integrated and lasting over time.

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in helping clients better understand both their inner world and the relational experiences that have shaped them.

Individual Therapy in Petaluma and Novato

I offer in-person individual therapy sessions in both Petaluma and Novato for adults navigating a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. Therapy can help when you feel stuck in recurring patterns, overwhelmed by life transitions, or unsure why certain struggles continue to resurface despite your efforts to move forward.

Many clients come to therapy during periods of change or uncertainty, including:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Divorce or separation

  • Career changes or burnout

  • Pregnancy, fertility, or becoming a parent

  • Self-esteem and identity concerns

  • Feeling emotionally disconnected or “high functioning but struggling internally”

Therapy provides an opportunity to become more aware of the emotional patterns beneath these experiences, allowing for greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding.

A Therapy Process Centered on Self-Understanding

Therapy is not simply about fixing symptoms or finding quick answers. Often, the difficulties we experience have deeper roots connected to attachment experiences, emotional wounds, or long-standing ways of coping and relating.

In our work together, we may explore:

  • Patterns that continue repeating in relationships or daily life

  • Emotional responses that feel difficult to control or understand

  • Early experiences that continue to influence present-day reactions

  • Internal conflicts between who you are and who you feel expected to be

  • The impact of stress, trauma, or loss on the nervous system and body

As insight develops, therapy can begin to feel less like “surviving” and more like moving through life with intention, emotional flexibility, and greater self-trust.Couples Therapy for Communication, Conflict, and Trust Issues

Many couples come to therapy feeling discouraged because they’ve “talked everything to death” but still feel disconnected. Others worry that conflict means something is fundamentally wrong with the relationship.

In therapy, we focus on helping both partners feel heard and understood—often for the first time in a long while. This includes slowing down reactive conversations, exploring emotional triggers, and building the skills needed to stay engaged rather than shutting down or escalating.

Couples therapy can be especially helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Repeated arguments that never seem to resolve

  • One partner pursuing while the other withdraws

  • Loss of emotional or physical intimacy

  • Difficulty repairing after conflict

  • Trust issues following infidelity or secrecy

  • Stress related to parenting, work, or caregiving

The goal is not simply better communication, but deeper emotional safety and responsiveness between partners.

An Attachment-Based and Psychodynamic Approach to Individual Therapy

My work is grounded in attachment-focused and psychodynamic therapy, which means we explore not only current symptoms, but also the deeper emotional patterns and relational experiences that shape them.

I integrate elements of:

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Object Relations Theory

  • Trauma-Informed Therapy

  • Somatic Therapy

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy

  • Compassion-Focused and Humanistic Approaches

This integrative framework allows therapy to support both emotional insight and practical change. Some sessions may focus on present-day stressors and coping, while others may explore longstanding patterns that no longer serve you.

Therapy for Life Transitions and Emotional Growth

Certain periods of life naturally invite reflection and change. Therapy can be especially supportive during transitions that challenge your identity, relationships, or sense of stability.

I frequently work with individuals navigating:

  • Becoming a parent or trying to conceive

  • Changes in relationships or family dynamics

  • Loss, grief, or caregiving responsibilities

  • Career transitions or professional uncertainty

  • Questions around identity, fulfillment, and direction

  • Emotional exhaustion from constantly “holding it together” for others

These experiences can surface emotions and patterns that are difficult to process alone. Therapy creates space to better understand what is happening internally while developing healthier and more sustainable ways of moving forward.

Building Insight, Emotional Awareness, and Resilience

Many people enter therapy wanting relief from anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm. While symptom relief is important, meaningful therapy also creates opportunities for deeper growth and self-awareness.

Over time, therapy can help you:

  • Develop a stronger understanding of your emotional patterns

  • Improve boundaries and communication

  • Increase self-compassion and emotional regulation

  • Feel more grounded during stress or uncertainty

  • Create healthier and more fulfilling relationships

  • Move through life transitions with greater clarity and confidence

The goal is not perfection, but developing a more connected and authentic relationship with yourself.
